The Rotary Club of Thornbury
Meetings at Eastwood Park. Falfield, Gloucestershire
Thornbury Inner Wheel - District 10
Thornbury Inner Wheel open to ladies who like to have fun while helping in the community and raising money for charity.
As an organisation the Club has three objectives. These are to promote true friendship, encourage the ideal of personal service and foster international understanding. Many members of our Club are wives and partners of Rotarians whilst others have joined through personal recommendation and a desire to help the Community.
I became this year’s (2020/21) President of Thornbury Inner Wheel in July 2020. Born in the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire I later moved to Almondsbury as a result of my husband’s work. We finally settled in Alveston in the early seventies. I joined Thornbury Inner Wheel in late 2016, making many new friends as a result. My hobbies include travel, the theatre and gardening.
Each year the President chooses her Charity for her year in office.
This year I have chosen Brain Tumour Support.
We have a regular monthly meeting, held on a Wednesday evening where we have a meal followed by a Speaker of note on various topics. We also take the opportunity to discuss any Club Business.
During the year we have a number of organised events to places of interest and also evening theatre visits. A group of our ladies have a Knit and Natter Club once a month making children’s garments and blanket squares.
Wherever possible we look for opportunities to raise money for worthy local charities and good causes. Internationally we support Water Aid
We also assist the Rotary Club of Thornbury at the ever-popular Swimarathon and the Welsh Choral Evening.
If you would like to know more about us, why not give us a call or come along to one of our evening meetings where you would be made most welcome.
The Club meets at The Gables Hotel, Falfield on the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 6.30pm.
