Rotary Youth Leadership Awards 2008 |
 |
Rotary's Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is a
leadership development training programme run by Rotary
Districts and Rotary Clubs for young people all over the world.
Young people in South Gloucestershire aged between 16 and 18 are
eligible for an annual residential course run, on behalf of Rotary,
by professional trainers at the
Dean Field Studies Centre, Lydney, Gloucestershire. |
|
They joined 40 other young people from Bristol, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire and
Hereford on a week-long residential course focussed on team-work, leadership and
self-awareness.awareness. In preparation for the course A;ex and Nathan were required to develop some
short, medium and long-term targets against which they could measure their
personal development during the week and in the months to come. |
|
Although exhausted at the end of an extremely demanding week, the three told
Vice-President Gordon at the end-of-course barbeque that the course had helped
them understand how to achieve these targets and how to realise their full
potential. They had learnt a lot more about themselves and their
capabilities, as well as making many new friends and having a great deal of fun. |
